Backup WordPress Before Upgrading to 3.0

June 19, 2010

Our iThemes developer Chris Jean just did a blog post about WordPress 3.0 being released that has some good information about this blockbuster release for WP.

It’s one of the most highly anticipated releases yet … with custom menus, custom post types, and the WPMU now Multi-Site merge.

We’re very pleased to see Chris Jean’s name listed as one of the contributors to this version. We contribute back to the WP community in a number of ways, and it’s nice to see Chris recognized for his efforts.

MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP WORDPRESS BEFORE UPGRADING

“We should say that before doing any major upgrades, you should always do a full backup of your site. If you don’t currently have a backup process, please checkout BackupBuddy. We developed this plugin specifically to help our customers do easy, fast, reliable backups. Beyond offering fast, complete backups, BackupBuddy also supports restoring your site from the backup and migrating the site to another domain and/or server (this makes spinning up a test site to try out the upgrade very quick and easy to do).”

Over at PluginBuddy, we just released a free WordPress plugin called ServerBuddy that is designed to help you test the quality of your hosting, how secure your WordPress installation is, and test compatibility with popular plugins like BackupBuddy and Gravity Forms.
